Open to Public Information
Ok, now I will explain further. As you recall in the previous vlog, Dana Craig, our chairperson, explained some events that are paid such as the workshops, some foods, banquet, some entertainments, etc. Now, in this vlog, I will explain what is open to the public. One of the first things that is open to the public is an area called the "Open Lobby Area". When you first enter the Conference Doors, you will see rows of tables and booths in the open area. Each booth has different representatives to talk with you such as companies, government agencies, Deaf Services, etc. There will be qualified sign language interpreters available so that you can talk with invididuals who may not be Deaf. You can freely express your concerns on any issues you feel are important as a Deaf or Hard of Hearing Person. There will be a stage area in which short announcements are made, etc.
June 11, 2009 - Thursday Night Open Forum
Thursday evening, there will be an open forum to the public where you can come in see the issues discuss and participate by expressing your concerns and ideas. This is the PERFECT time to address many issues to IAD during this open forum. This will help IAD to set up goals for the next two years from 2009 to 2011 for the Deaf Community. Many times, the Deaf Community do not have an opportunity to speak out. This is YOUR time to do so.
June 12, 2009 - Legislative Forum
On Friday, we have a legislative forum open to the public to discuss a variety of legislation that involve the Deaf Community. Many legislations such as the Hearing Aid Insurance Act, Interpreter Licensure Act, Housing Laws, Fire Alarm legislation, etc. The State of Illinois addresses legislations every year and this is an EXCELLENT time for YOU to get involved!
June 13, 2009 - IAD General Meeting
On Saturday is an IMPORTANT DAY. On Saturday is the IAD General Meeting. This meeting is a state-wide meeting to conduct IAD Business and to address issues that affect the IAD Members. It is during this meeting that there will be an Election for IAD President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary. This meeting is an excellent opportunity for you to get to know who your new leaders for IAD for the next two years.
Together, we are strong... Together, We The People!"
Now, as I recentlly explained in the Vlog, there are many different events happening throughout the 2009 IAD Conference! Remember, the most important person in IAD is YOU! YOU are who can make the IAD strong! Together, we can accomplish many things! So please consider coming to the 2009 IAD Conference! This is a RARE opportunity to really make change and a different that has never happened before in the history of IAD. It is now time for ALL of us to think toward the FUTURE!
